Community-Led Plan
Abingdon Town Council has announced that it is spearheading the creation of a Community-Led Plan. People living in and around Abingdon-on-Thames are being urged to help forge its future. Everyone in the area is invited to get involved with “Abingdon For All”
The community led planning process enables residents to develop a shared vision for the long-term sustainability of the community and how it should develop over the next five to ten years. The Plan can be used to influence local area planning decisions, support funding applications and influence service providers. Residents will be able to have their say on a wide range of topics and identify what they feel is important to the future and wellbeing of their community. At a series of events that will take place over the summer residents will be able to put forward their ideas about how they would like to see the town develop.
Topics might include their thoughts on requirements for community facilities and services, suggestions for improving the environment, their ideas for sports and leisure activities and their views about local transport and local provision for young people. The process will be supported by the Town Council and the Vale of White Horse District Council but a key role will be taken by local volunteers – if you would like to get involved in this worthwhile project please do get in touch with the Town Council.
Drop-in launch events for the Community Led Plan will take place on Tuesday 5th September (4pm-7pm) at the Abbey Buildings and Saturday 16th September (2-4pm) at Preston Road Community Centre
